About Ancestor Detective

Ancestor Detective was born from a love of genealogy and the adrenline that you get when you find an ancestor or break through a brick wall. What started as an interest in finding out where a friends family were from and who they were grew into a hobby and then, yes, an obsession.

Through my own journey to find who my ancestors were I was led to England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and all parts of Australia. Through a range of databases and websites I have been able to trace my family back over five generations with the help of vital records, census data, military records, electoral rolls, land records and newspaper articles.

We have all been brought up hearing family stories about family members and events in their lives. I didn’t expect on my genealogy journey that I would find out that some of these stories weren’t as they were told or that someone was not who relatives believed them to be.

Over the years, I have been asked to research families or a particular ancestors and to build family trees for a range of people. From this research I have written biographies, manuscripts and provided full data reports tracing their ancestors back for generations. I have also assisted others in locating records to support their own genealogy journey.

With a strong background in government and academic research, Ancestor Detective provides genealogy services based on evidence, vital records and other information that builds a profile of ancestors and families. With the use of land records, census information and newspaper articles I can tell a family story that can be handed down to descendants in the future.

In addition to building your family tree, Ancestor Detective can assist you through one on one education sessions or masterclasses for up to ten people on a range of topics that will guide you through the development of your own family history.

With more and more records around the world being located and digitised, online databases are now a wealth of information, providing you with the records and information you need to tell your ancestors story.
